Review: Pacific Poker
Overall rating
www.pacificpoker.com
Available on: Windows, Mac, Linux
Pacific Poker was a stand-alone site that is now under the umbrella of 888. The ever expanding 888 organisation has lead to an injection of resource into Pacfic Poker, which has in turn lead to an influx of plenty of action, particularly at med limit tables.
All variations of Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo are available. Real-money player statistics as of July 2010 show 2000 ring-game players at peak hours and 8000 tournament players at peak hours.
Pacific Poker Bonus Codes (9 out of 10)
An easily achievable 100% up to $400 is offered when using anyone of our Pacific Poker links. 888poker has a brand new rewards program for its players. All said it is one of the best programs out there. Simply become a real-money player, and you're automatically part of the rewards program. As soon as the cards are dealt you start earning.
You collect both Status Points and Reward Points as you play. The better status you achieve, the more Reward Points you get. Reward points can be exchanged for real cash, tournament entries, merchandise and lots more. Plus, 888poker offers reload bonuses on a monthly basis.
Pacific Poker Tournament & Cash Games (8 out of 10)
888poker has a very decent selection of tournaments, with buy-ins ranging from $1 up to hundreds. Tournament traffic is brisk, and very loose. Even the bigger buy-in tournaments can offer some seriously loose play.
888poker famed Daily Challenge series is well worth checking out. Buy-ins range from the $12+$1.20 rebuy ($10k guarantee) on Thursdays to the flagship $75+$5 ($50k guarantee) on Saturdays to the $100+$9 High Rollers event on Tuesdays ($10k guarantee).
Cash games comprehensively cover all of the popular limits, with average to decent numbers, there is always a hold’em table with some good action. Other game types can suffer a bit outside of peak hours.
Pacific Poker Traffic (6 out of 10)
Traffic on Pacific is definitely lower than it was three years ago, but there are still plenty of Hold'em games ready and waiting on the site. The site can bring in as many as 2,000 real money players on the tables, however the numbers do genuinely increase during the weekends
Pacific Poker Software (8 out of 10)
Pacific poker and good software were rarely terms that ended up in the same sentence, but their newly released poker client changes all of that. We actually didn’t mind their old software, which was very much an ode to the early days of online poker, but the new software is definitely progressive step in the right direction.
Pacific Poker has some great features. You’ve got: flop percentages, table statistics, average pot plus hands per hour coupled with some other excellent features. Some of the extra add-ons include easily accessed links to some helpful poker tutorials from the top navigation. These are dead helpful if you are looking for some help while finding your feet at the tables.
Pacific Poker Customer Service (5 out of 10)
Pacific Poker offers both phone and email customer service. They do a decent job at answering basic questions, but there can be issues regards solving more complicated matters. They can also take a long time to answer emails.
Pacific Poker Deposit and Withdrawal options (10 out of 10)
The usual suspects and then some in the deposit department.
VISA, MasterCard, EuroCard, Diners Club, Solo, laser Debit Cards, Maestro, Bank transfer, Boleto, Deposito Refrenciado, European checks, E-checks, PayPoint Invoice, Wire transfers, Commerzbank OnlineBanking Web, Deutsche bank 24 Direct Debit, Dresdner bank InternetBanking, ELBA, Direct Debit, eNETS, hansabank, Neteller, InstaDebit, ClickandBuy, ACTeCASH, Moneybookers, ukash, bank transfer, PaysafeCard, EntroPay, PayPoint, Dankort debit card (Denmark), Nordea online bank account (Sweden/Finland), Paypal (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and UK).
Helpful withdrawal options: Visa, Mastercard, Debit Cards, Neteller, Moneybookers, PayPal, wire transfer (direct bank account transfer) and bank draft (cashier's check). Withdrawals are held for three days before processing.
Conclusion
Pacific is definitely part of the furniture of online gaming. While there are definitely some sites out there that have suffered from huge take overs, Pacific seems to have only gained from the deal. With a renewed player base, bigger & better offers plus some striking new software. We have always had a soft spot for Pacific, but today’s Pacific Poker is well worth a visit whether you are new to online poker or not. Sound bonus offers and some great loose tournament action means that there is fun to be had.
